To cater to local requirements, Samsung will make its latest smartphone series Galaxy S23 in India. The South Korean tech giant unveiled the Galaxy S23 line-up on February 1.

According to a report by the Press Trust of India, all the Samsung Galaxy S23 smartphones sold in the country will be manufactured at the company’s Noida facility. Additionally, the company “already fulfils a majority of the domestic demand in India through local manufacturing at the Noida factory.”

It is noteworthy that Samsung’s move comes just after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman waived off customs duties to promote domestic manufacturing. “I propose to reduce the number of Basic Customs Duty (BCD) rates on goods, other than textiles and agriculture, from 21 to 13,” she said. This would make camera lenses for phones, laptops, and DSLRs cheaper.

Samsung unveiled Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra at its Galaxy Unpacked event on February 1. All three models are powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and come with improved camera technology, sleek design, and better battery life. The price of the S23 series ranges between Rs 75,000 and Rs 1.55 lakh a piece in the country.
