The Skoda Enyaq iV made its debut in India at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo, marking a significant step for Skoda Auto Volkswagen India in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. This all-electric SUV highlights the Czech automaker’s commitment to expanding its green mobility footprint in the Indian market. The Enyaq iV is expected to be Skoda’s first electric offering in India, showcasing the brand’s EV tech, and should arrive later this year.
Built on the VW Group’s MEB platform, shared with the Volkswagen ID.4, the Enyaq iV combines sleek design with some EV styling flourishes. It features an illuminated grille adorned with 130 LEDs, LED headlights, and a sporty profile accentuated by sharp lines, a sloped roofline for improved aerodynamics, and 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear features an integrated spoiler and LED tail lights with a distinctive lighting signature.
The interior of the Enyaq iV features a simple layout with a large infotainment display perched in the centre, very much like the Kodiaq in some ways, but with key differences in terms of materials and finishes. Apart from the large 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, there’s three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and features like nine airbags and a 360-degree camera for enhanced safety. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control are also part of its comprehensive safety suite.
Under the hood, the Enyaq iV offers three battery pack options globally: 52 kWh, 58 kWh, and 77 kWh, supporting fast charging of up to 125 kW. This allows the battery to be charged from 5 to 80 percent in just 38 minutes. The range-topping Enyaq iV 80x variant, likely to be offered in India, comes with a 77kWh battery and dual electric motors producing a combined output of 265hp, offering a maximum range of 513 km (WLTP cycle).
Skoda is positioning the Enyaq iV as a premium electric SUV with a likely starting price upwards of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom), and is expected to compete against the likes of the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo’s XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge in the Indian market.
