Meta India Public Policy lead Rajiv Aggarwal and head of  WhatsApp Abhijit Bose also resigned earlier this week.

Sandhya Devanathan has been appointed as the Vice President of Meta India, the multinational tech giant said on Thursday. Devanathan, who joined the social media giant in 2016 and helped with its business in Singapore and Vietnam, comes in place of Ajit Mohan, who recently resigned from the company to pursue another opportunity.

The social media juggernaut added that Devanathan moved to Indonesia to lead the company’s gaming efforts in the Asia-Pacific region. She will transition into the new role from January 1, 2023, and will report to Dan Neary, Vice President, Meta APAC.

“I’m pleased to welcome Sandhya as our new leader for India. Sandhya has a proven track record of scaling businesses, building exceptional and inclusive teams, driving product innovation and building strong partnerships. We are thrilled to have her lead Meta’s continued growth in India,” Meta Chief Business Officer Marne Levine said in a statement.

Devanathan’s appointment came after the company’s now-former India head Ajit Mohan stepped down from his position after four years to join rival company Snap Inc. Mohan joined the American tech giant, then Facebook, in January 2019 as a Vice President and Managing Director of the India business.

The exodus of top-level employees at U.S.-based tech companies continued after Mohan’s resignation and a few weeks later to this Meta India Public Policy lead Rajiv Aggarwal and head of WhatsApp Abhijit Bose also resigned.
