Nothing, the consumer electronics company known for its unique design aesthetics, has launched two new wireless earbuds: the Nothing Ear and the Nothing Ear (a). While the Nothing Ear is positioned as a premium offering, succeeding last year’s Ear (2), the Ear (a) is designed to be a more affordable alternative. Both earbuds come with a range of exciting features, but the most notable addition is the integration of ChatGPT, the popular AI language model.

The Nothing Ear builds upon the company’s signature transparent design while focusing on enhancing sound quality. It features an 11mm driver system engineered with premium materials, including a ceramic diaphragm that promises richer audio and crisper highs. The improved dual-chamber design, coupled with additional vents, aims to deliver clearer sound. Audiophiles will appreciate the Ear’s support for high-resolution codecs like LHDC 5.0 and LDAC over Bluetooth, enabling 24-bit/192kHz lossless streaming. The earbuds also offer a personal audio profile feature that tunes the equalizer based on the user’s hearing preferences.

Nothing has also focused on improving noise cancellation technology in the Ear. The new Smart ANC algorithm actively checks for noise leakage and adjusts the cancellation accordingly, claiming to provide almost twice the silencing power of its predecessor, the Ear (2), at 45dB. Other notable features include extended battery life (up to 40.5 hours), fast wireless charging, improved voice call quality, and convenient pinch controls.

On the other hand, the Nothing Ear (a) is designed to be a budget-friendly option without compromising on essential features. Available in a vibrant yellow color, the Ear (a) features a new driver that promises deep bass performance and is certified for hi-res audio, capable of streaming at up to 24-bit/96kHz over LDAC. The earbuds sport a redesigned, smaller-looking case, setting them apart from the regular Ear model, which largely retains the appearance of the Ear (2).

Despite its more affordable price point, the Ear (a) is equipped with the same Smart ANC technology as its pricier sibling, offering adaptive transparency modes. The battery life is slightly higher than the Ear, lasting up to 42.5 hours on a single charge.

The most exciting feature of both the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) is the integration of ChatGPT, aligning with Nothing’s goal of simplifying AI experiences for users. By using the latest Nothing OS and a simple pinch gesture, users can engage in conversations with ChatGPT directly through the earbuds, bringing the power of the popular language model to their fingertips.

The Nothing Ear is priced at Rs 11,999, while the more affordable Ear (a) will retail for Rs 7,999. Both earbuds are set to hit Indian stores by late April, initially available exclusively through Flipkart, with launch discounts on offer.
