London-based consumer tech company Nothing launched its audio product Ear (2) on Wednesday. From improved battery life to adaptive active noise cancellation, here is all you need to know about the latest pair of earbuds.

    Nothing Ear (2) specifications:

Just like its predecessor Ear (1), Nothing Ear (2) is a transparent, lightweight wireless pair of earbuds. Each earbud weighs 4.5 grams compared to the 4.7 grams weight of Nothing Ear (1). The earbuds come in a dual chamber design for smoother airflow and clearer audio, and are equipped with an 11.6 mm dynamic driver for powerful bass and richer high notes, both claim to provide ‘studio quality sound.’ It supports LHDC 5.0 codec for high-resolution streaming over Bluetooth.

While both Ear (1) and Ear (2) features active noise cancellation, the latest earbuds come with ANC of up to 40 dB. The company founded by former OnePlus head Carl Pei has taken a step further and introduced adaptive ANC that adjusts the noise cancellation level according to the environment, giving a more personalized listening experience. This also makes the earbuds better suited for noisy environments.

Another feature that the company has bettered is the product’s battery life. With Nothing Ear (2) you can enjoy up to 36 hours of music playback with the case and 6.3 hours with buds only. With just 10 minutes of charge, you can get a listening time of eight hours. The product’s predecessor, on the other hand, offers five hours of listening time with the earbuds and 34 hours with the case. The latest device supports up to 2.5W for wireless charging.

Nothing Ear (1) is IPX4-certified for sweat and water resistance. However, Ear (2) has an IP54 sweat and dust-resistance rating and its charging case has an IP55 rating, making the product even more durable. Furthermore, with the Nothing X app, users can manage the ANC levels, customize settings like EQ and gesture controls, create their personal sound profile, and even get an Ear Tip Fit Test.

Some other features of the product include in-ear detection, Google fast pair, Microsoft swift pair, dual connection, Clear Voice Technology with 3 mics per bud, and LED charging status, among others. The device is compatible with Android 5.1 and above, and iOS 11 and above.

Along with the earbuds, users will also get a square-shaped case with round edges that the company claims to have rebuilt with stronger, pressure-resistant material for a premium feel. The charging case weighs 51.9 grams, compared with 59.4 grams for the Ear (1) case. Users will further get a type C-cable, ear tips in sizes S, M, and L, a user guide, and warranty information in the box.

Nothing Ear (2) price and availability:

The device is available in single white color as of now and is priced at Rs 9,999 in India. The device will reportedly go on sale from March 28 on Flipkart.
