Chinese smartphone brand Honor, launched the brand new X9b 5G smartphone at Noida’s Amity University campus on Thursday February 15th. The device will be live on sale today, starting from 12 Noon, IST (Indian standard time) on Amazon and all retail outlets across the country.
Amidst the unveiling ceremony of the X9b 5G, Honor also dazzled the audience by launching the Honor Choice X5 Earbuds and the elegant Honor Choice Watch. The company also gave a notable mention to last year’s Honor 90 5G series smartphone. It is evident that Honor is determined to kick off 2024 with a bang, heralding the arrival of three groundbreaking products in only the second month of the year.
Sree Hari, the company’s product manager showcased the various aspects to the powerful Honor X9b 5G, its cutting-edge features including the powerful Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC chipset, an expansive 5800mAh battery, a remarkable 108MP camera with Samsung’s ISOCELL HM2 sensor, and the Magic OS 7.1 Skin running the latest Android 13.
Honor X9b 5G’s impressive specs
The Honor X9b 5G though packed with many powerful features, the key highlight lies in its Ultra-Bounce 360-degree Anti-Drop Display. The company boasts of the Gold label given by Dxomark as its innovative airbag technology with shock-absorbing structure around the phone provides impressive resistance to drops up to 1.5 meters. Honor guarantees 360 degree protection to all 10 sides of the phone (six faces and four corners) even on hard surfaces.
Madhav Seth, the CEO of Honor Tech India, dropped the phone on purpose to demonstrate its toughness while presenting during the event. After the event, Honor opened a demo zone for several users to test the phone. Many users dropped the device repeatedly and the X9b 5G seemed to withstand all the torture it was going through.
The device features a curved 6.78 inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution at 1200Nits of peak brightness. It also has a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz. In terms of performance, this mid-ranger is powered by Snapdragon’s 6 Gen 1 SoC chipset coupled with a 8GB of RAM, extendable to a whopping 16GB of VRAM (virtual RAM), alongside a capacious 256GB of storage.
In terms of software advancements, Honor showcased the generative AI capabilities of the user interface in the device by demonstrating prompt generation tools that have now been built into the keyboard. Users can now generate texts and images directly within any app that they are using with the help of the default keyboard.
At the rear, the Honor X9b 5G showcases a sophisticated triple camera setup, headlined by a remarkable 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 primary sensor that is capable of delivering upto 3x lossless zoom. The company boasts of a “millisecond capture” feature that can freeze split-second moments. Accompanying this sensor are a 5 Megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2 Megapixel macro lens. Meanwhile, the front display hosts a discreet 16MP selfie camera nestled within a sleek punch hole design.
Apart from these features, what really fuels the X9b 5G is its robust 5,800 mAh battery, that promises an impressive 3 days of seamless usage on just one single charge. Honor also went further by guaranteeing a battery lifespan of three years, ensuring the phone’s longevity and reliability. The Honor X9b 5G also supports instant tap and pay support for NFC payments.
Honor X9b 5G Price
The X9b 5G is currently available in two color variants, the Sunrise Orange that features vegan leather finish and the Midnight Black variant that features a glossy back panel. It is priced at Rs.25,999 and is live on sale starting from 12 noon today. With launch offers, the effective price comes down to Rs.22,999.
Honor’s X5 Choice Earbuds and Choice Watch
Along with the X9b 5G, Honor also launched the X5 Choice truly wireless earbuds and the Choice smartwatch. The X5 Choice earbuds features up to 30 decibels of active noice cancellation and and a 35 hour battery life on one single charge. The earbuds can be integrated with the HONOR AI Space companion app. The earbuds are priced at Rs.1,999 starting from February 16 at 12 noon.
The Choice Watch was launched along with the earbuds. The watch features a built-in HONOR Health app and a 1.95-inch AMOLED Ultra-thin display. It features built-in GPS, and SOS calling with one click of the crown. The smartwatch also promises a battery life of up to 12 days. The Choice watch is available in two colors, White and Black and also features water resistance of upto 5ATM, and will be live on sale starting from February 24th at a introductory launch price of Rs.5,999
