It’s that time of the year! American tech major Apple is poised to host its much-eyed “It’s Glowtime” event today, September 9, at 10:00 AM PT (10:30 PM IST). The event, to be held at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, is expected to unveil the new iPhone 16 series, along with updated Apple Watch models and AirPods.

For those eager to catch the live proceedings, Apple will stream the event on its official website and YouTube channel, and it will also be available through the Apple TV app across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and tvOS devices. The event promises to be a major highlight in the tech calendar, with several new products and updates on the agenda.

    What to Expect:

The centerpiece of today’s event is likely to be the iPhone 16 series. Reports suggest that Apple will introduce four new models: the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Notably, all models in this series are expected to feature the Dynamic Island, an interactive display feature that debuted with the iPhone 14 Pro models.

In terms of specifications, the iPhone 16 Pro variants are anticipated to be powered by the new A18 Pro chip, while the base models, including the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, are expected to use the A18 Bionic chip. The Pro models are rumored to sport larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, compared to their predecessors, with improved camera systems that may include a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a more robust battery capable of 40W wired and 20W MagSafe charging.

Apart from iPhones, the event will also likely spotlight the Apple Watch Series 10, which could be rebranded as the Apple Watch X to mark a decade of Apple Watch innovations. The Series 10 is rumored to come in 44mm and 48mm sizes, featuring an updated design with a thinner profile and potentially new health monitoring capabilities such as sleep apnea detection. An upgraded S10 chip might also be introduced, enhancing the watch’s AI capabilities. Additionally, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to receive minor updates, including new strap options and the new S10 chip.

The event might see the launch of the fourth-generation AirPods models. Alongside these, a new entry-level AirPods model and possibly an updated AirPods Max with improved features like adaptive audio and conversation awareness could be announced. Last but not the least, Apple’s software updates, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and watchOS 11, are likely to be highlighted, with potential release dates being shared.
