Morris Garages is set to electrify the roads with the launch of their all-new MG4 EV, a fully-electric hatchback designed for both performance and practicality. Boasting a driving range of up to 360 km on a single charge, the MG4 EV promises a capable and eco-friendly driving experience.
MG4 EV features
The MG4 EV debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo, in India. However, MG is yet to clarify if the car will release in India. MG provides transparency by outlining the MG4 EV’s range under various conditions. In ideal conditions with mild weather (23°C) and city driving, the MG4 EV can achieve an impressive maximum range of 535 km. Conversely, cold weather (-10°C) and highway driving will see the range decrease to a still respectable 255 km. The combined range for mild and cold weather scenarios falls between 305 km and 415 km, respectively.
It’s important to remember that these figures are estimates and can be influenced by driving habits, weather conditions, and chosen routes. But the MG4 EV isn’t all about efficiency. This electric hatchback packs a punch with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive configuration promises a dynamic driving experience. Powering this performance is a 61.7 kWh usable capacity battery with a total power output of 150 kW (204 PS) and 250 Nm of torque.
MG prioritizes battery health with a 7-year warranty or 150,000 km, whichever comes first. The car supports home charging with a standard 6.6 kW AC adapter, taking roughly 11 hours for a full charge. For those on the go, the MG4 EV offers fast charging capabilities. Using a 142 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
Despite its compact size (length 4287 mm, width 1836 mm), the MG4 EV offers a surprisingly spacious interior with a maximum cargo capacity of 1177 liters and the option for a tow hitch, making it a practical choice for everyday needs and even light towing.
The cabin comfortably seats 5 people with child seat compatibility for two, and benefits from a heat pump for improved climate control efficiency (availability may vary by country). With a turning circle of 10.6 meters, maneuvering this hatchback in tight spaces should be a breeze. Built on a dedicated SAIC MSPEV platform, the MG4 EV seems poised to be a compelling option in the C-segment hatchback market.
MG4 Expected Price
Although the company has not announced its release in India, the car is expected to be priced at around Rs. 30 Lakh and will be available in seven colour variants, Dover White, Brixton Blue, Diamond Red, Black Pearl, Volcano, Camden Grey and Sterling Silver.
