MG Motor India will launch the fully imported electric sports car, the MG Cyberster, in India in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Expo. The two-door convertible will be exclusively available through MG Select, the brand’s premium retail channel designed to provide a bespoke customer experience for high-end MG models.
The Cyberster’s design is a blend of modern aesthetics with clear inspiration drawn from the classic MGB Roadster. It boasts a low-slung profile with aerodynamic lines, contributing to its sporty appeal. Adding to its dramatic flair, the Cyberster features scissor doors that open upwards. The car’s striking visual presence is further enhanced by LED lighting elements, including distinctive headlights and arrow-shaped taillights. A fabric convertible top allows for open-air driving, while 19- or 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels complete the dynamic look. In terms of dimensions, the Cyberster measures 4,533 mm in length, 1,912 mm in width, and 1,328 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,689 mm.
While MG Motor India has not yet confirmed the powertrain specifics for the Indian market, the global model offers two compelling options. The entry-level variant features a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor delivering 308 hp and a 64 kWh battery, providing a claimed range of 520 km based on the WLTP cycle. For those seeking even more exhilarating performance, the top-of-the-line Cyberster boasts a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive, generating a combined output of 544 hp and achieving a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.2 seconds. This variant utilizes a 77 kWh battery and offers a claimed range of 580 km according to the CLTC cycle.
We expect the MG Cyberster to be priced between ₹50 lakh and ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. This places it in direct competition with other premium EVs in the market, including the BYD Seal, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6. However, the Cyberster’s unique roadster design and its focus on performance are expected to give it an edge in this segment.
The exact start date for deliveries is yet to be confirmed by MG Motor India. In addition to the Cyberster, MG’s upcoming electric MPV, the Mifa 9, will also be available through MG Select. The company plans to initially establish 12 MG Select experience centres across India to cater to customers interested in their premium offerings.
