    Chinese tech giant Huawei has officially entered the competitive luxury electric vehicle market with the launch of its Huawei Stelato S9 sedan. Developed in collaboration with Beijing-based automaker BAIC Motors, the Stelato S9 made its debut as a concept at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year before transitioning into production. 

    Huawei’s move follows closely on the heels of fellow smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi’s foray into the EV space with the SU7, signalling a growing trend of tech companies expanding their reach into the automotive industry. Here’s a deeper dive into everything that the Stelato S9 features.

    Powering the Stelato S9 is a robust 100 kWh battery, promising impressive ranges of up to 816 km for the Max and 721 km for the Ultra under the CLTC testing standard. Huawei has equipped the vehicle with advanced charging technology,enabling a 30-80% charge in just 15 minutes.

    Beyond its performance, the Stelato S9 is a showcase of Huawei’s technological prowess. The vehicle incorporates the company’s cutting-edge Advanced Driving System 3.0 (ADS 3.0) and Omnidirectional Collision Avoidance System CAS 3.0, enhancing safety and driver assistance features.

    Inside, the Ultra variant offers a luxurious experience with zero-gravity seats and a 32-inch lift-up projection screen that transforms the interior into a mobile entertainment hub. Huawei’s AI-powered voice assistant, Tuling, provides intuitive control over various vehicle functions.

    Available in two variants, the Max and Ultra, the Huawei-BAIC Stelato S9 starts from a price of RMB 399,800 (Rs.46,73,262) and RMB 449,800 (Rs.52,57,700).The Stelato S9, available in three colours, Black, Red and Cream hues, underscores Huawei’s ambition to become a major player in the automotive industry. As the competition in the electric vehicle market intensifies, the company’s deep pockets and technological expertise could position it as a formidable contender.
