Honda Cars India has launched the updated Amaze compact sedan, marking the thirgeneration of the popular model. With a starting price of ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Amaze boasts a refreshed design, upgraded interior, and a host of new features, including ADAS tech.
Exterior Refresh
The new Amaze adopts a more modern and stylish design language, aligning with Honda’s latest models like the Elevate and City. Notable exterior changes include new dual-pod LED headlights, a larger front grille, updated bumpers, and new dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear also gets a makeover with City-like LED taillights.
Interior Upgrades
Inside the cabin, the Amaze receives a redesigned dashboard with a new 3-spoke steering wheel and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The interior features a black and beige theme, like some other cars in the brand’s portfolio.
Honda Amaze Tech and Safety Enhancements
Honda has packed the new Amaze with technology and safety features. It now comes standard with six airbags, a first in the segment. Other notable features include a semi-digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, and Honda’s LaneWatch camera system.
The biggest highlight is the inclusion of Honda Sensing, the company’s suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This makes it the most affordable car in India to offer ADAS features, which include: Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN), Auto High-Beam (AHB).
Engine and Transmission
The new Amaze retains the same 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque. It comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
Honda Amaze Pricing and Availability
The new Honda Amaze is available in three variants: V, VX, and ZX. Prices range from ₹7.99 lakh to ₹10.89 lakh (ex-showroom). These are introductory prices, valid for the first 45 days of launch. Test drives have commenced, and deliveries are expected to begin next month.
The addition of ADAS features at this price point could give it a significant edge over its rivals. It goes up against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor. It is also the only car in the segment with no CNG option, a big miss given that most sales in the segment are of the respective CNG variants.
