Dyson, a company primarily known for its home appliances like vacuum cleaners and air purifiers, has entered the Indian audio market with the introduction of its Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones. Developed over a period of five years, the headphones aim to offer a balanced audio experience based on scientific measurements rather than subjective listening tests.
The headphones are equipped with a long-lasting battery that provides up to 50 hours of playback time and can be fully recharged in three hours. The device incorporates 11 microphones, eight of which are dedicated to noise reduction, decreasing ambient noise by up to 38 decibels. The design, inspired by a horse’s saddle, aims to distribute weight evenly across both sides of the head for increased comfort.
One noteworthy feature is the ‘transparent’ mode that allows users to be aware of their environment without removing the headphones. Additionally, the Dyson Zone comes with an attachable visor designed to purify air. This visor uses electrostatic filters to remove particles as small as 0.1 microns and activated carbon filters to absorb harmful gases.
The headphones are available in two versions: the standard Zone and the Zone Absolute+. Both versions come with accessories like electrostatic carbon filters, a visor cleaning brush, and a USB-C charging cable. The standard Zone edition is priced at Rs 59,900, while the Zone Absolute+ is available for Rs 64,900. Both can be purchased online or through Dyson Demo stores.
The headphones are also compatible with the MyDyson app, which provides controls for various functions including airflow speed, noise reduction settings, and audio equalization. With the launch of the Dyson Zone headphones, the company aims to carve a niche for itself in the competitive Indian audio market, offering a product that combines audio capabilities with air purification features.
