Nothing’s founder and CEO, Carl Pei has confirmed the much-anticipated launch of the Nothing Phone 2 in July. Pei’s latest interview with Forbes has confirmed the launch timeline and reveals essential details about the Nothing Phone (2). This highly anticipated smartphone has been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors in recent weeks. Similar to the release strategy of the Phone (1), India will likely be among the first countries to receive the Phone (2).
The Nothing Phone (2) has already been confirmed to feature Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Although slightly dated, this powerful processor is expected to offer an 80 percent performance boost over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 778G Plus-equipped Phone (1). Reports indicate that the Phone (2) will sport a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The device is likely to boast a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and two additional sensors.
In terms of battery capacity, the Phone (2) will house a 4,700mAh battery, an upgrade of 200mAh from its predecessor. While it falls slightly short of the industry norm of 5,000mAh, Pei suggests that with proper optimization, the Phone 2 may still deliver impressive results.
An intriguing detail about the Phone (2) is the inclusion of an 18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP), capable of storing nearly 4,000 times more camera data than its predecessor. This indicates that the Phone(2)’s camera system will possess advanced capabilities, such as shooting 4K videos at 60 frames per second and capturing Raw HDR images.
