An engineer, who found solace in designing and racing ATVs and go-karts, Afzal made the natural move to automotive journalism. His enthusiasm for tech saw him take up reviewing consumer gadgets and soon enough he became the founding editor of Unboxed Magazine. Afzal loves slow travel (something the fast-paced nature of his job tries hard to steer him away from) and is often seen trying to eke out some time for a leisurely stroll through some of the amazing places he visits. He likes to believe that even though he is a tech and automotive connoisseur, he can step back enough from the products he reviews to provide much-needed context. He has shied away from being on camera for most of his career, but is now slowly but certainly spending more time in front of one, nudged by his extremely photogenic cat, Bailey.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo officially launched its latest foldable device, the Oppo Find N5, at a global event in Singapore on February 20, 2025.  The Find N5, successor to the Find N3, is being promoted as the “world’s thinnest foldable phone” and boasts significant upgrades in design, performance, and camera technology.

The device features a book-style foldable design and is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. This processor is expected to deliver enhanced on-device and cloud-based AI capabilities.  The Find N5 is equipped with a 5600mAh battery, and supports 80W SuperVOOC wired fast charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless fast charging.

Oppo emphasizes the slim profile of the Find N5, measuring just 8.93mm when folded and just 4.21mm when unfolded, making it significantly thinner than its predecessor. This sleekness is achieved partly due to a new titanium Flexion Hinge, crafted from aerospace-grade titanium alloy using 3D printing, which is claimed to be more rigid. This Oppo claims makes the crease less prominent.

The Oppo Find N5 sports a dual-display setup: an 8.12-inch 2K (2480×2248 pixels) 120Hz LTPO AMOLED inner screen and a 6.62-inch FHD+ (2616×1140 pixels) 120Hz AMOLED cover screen. Both screens feature 2160Hz PWM dimming, a 120Hz refresh rate and stylus pen support. The inner screen boasts up to 2100 nits of peak brightness and has received Minimised Crease Certification from TÜV Rheinland, protected by Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG).

For photography, the Find N5 features a Hasselblad-branded triple rear camera system. This includes a 50MP Sony LYT-700 primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens.  Both the inner and cover displays house an 8MP front-facing camera.

The phone comes in a single configuration with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage, running on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. The Oppo Find N5 is available in Cosmic Black and Misty White color options, with a China-exclusive Dusk Purple variant.  Priced at SGD 2,499 (approximately Rs 1,62,000) for the 16GB+512GB model, it will first go on sale in Singapore starting February 28, 2025.  As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding its launch in India.
