Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive has set a new record for the fastest quarter-mile time achieved by an Indian motorcycle. On December 1, 2024, at The Valley Run held in Aamby Valley, the company’s F99 racing concept clocked an impressive 10.712 seconds, securing its place in Indian motorsports history.
The record-breaking run was certified by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), solidifying the F99’s claim as the fastest Indian motorcycle over a quarter-mile distance. This achievement surpasses the previous record set in 2022, marking a significant milestone for Ultraviolette and for the development of high-performance electric motorcycles in India.
More Than Just Speed
While the quarter-mile record is a testament to the F99’s raw speed, the motorcycle represents much more than just straight-line acceleration. Ultraviolette has positioned the F99 as a technology demonstrator, showcasing the company’s capabilities in developing high-performance electric powertrains and advanced motorcycle technology.
The F99 features a distinctive design with an aerodynamically optimized carbon fiber body. It is powered by an electric motor that produces 120 bhp and a staggering 972 Nm of torque at the wheel. This allows the F99 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds and reach 200 km/h in under 10 seconds. Ultraviolette claims a top speed of 265 km/h for the F99.
Pushing the Boundaries
Ultraviolette has stated that the F99 is not merely a concept but a platform for developing technologies that will eventually trickle down to their production motorcycles. The company’s current flagship model, the F77, already benefits from some of the technological advancements derived from the F99 program, including innovations in regenerative braking and fast charging.
The F99’s record-breaking run is not the end of Ultraviolette’s ambitions. The company has announced plans to attempt another record for the highest top speed achieved by an Indian motorcycle in the coming weeks. This further underscores their commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance and innovation in the electric motorcycle space.
With the F99, Ultraviolette has not only demonstrated the potential of electric motorcycles in achieving impressive performance figures but has also showcased India’s growing capabilities in the electric vehicle domain.
